Automotive After Market Custom Projector Headlights

Custom Aftermarket Projector Headlights for cars, trucks and SUV’s

Picture of custom automotive angel eye projector headlights with dual lighted halosProjectors headlights originated in Germany about twenty years ago. It was technology taken from racing vehicles driven at night. The projector headlight technology started seeing common roads on many upper-class vehicles such as the BMW. BMW wanted to produce a headlight that would focus the light directly in front of the car instead of on the sides of the road and into the sky which standard parabolic headlights do. It was important to have the maximum amount of light in front of the vehicle when traveling at speeds over 150 kilometers/hour. Shortly thereafter, Japan expanded on the projector headlight technology and used it on a few Lexus vehicles. Now, projector headlights are seen on most new vehicles (foreign & domestic) built today including many high-end SUV’s. Aftermarket automotive projector headlights are becoming more mainstream opposed to the previous parabolic headlights used in the 1980’s & 1990’s. Again, the purpose of the projector headlight is to focus the beam of light in front of the vehicle instead of all over the highway…in areas where lighting isn’t really necessary. After Market Auto Parts

07.13.2010

Custom After Market Auto Parts, Accessories Are A Dominant Market

After market auto parts (alternately, aftermarket) is a booming business in the USA. It is said Americans love their cars and many enthusiasts want to make their cars the baddest, best or the fastest cars that they can afford. That’s where MyTightRide.com comes in.

When buying a new automobile from a dealership, factory options are referred to as “stock options” or “stock” for short. The wheels, engine, transmission and all performance parts are stock, including the lighting and interior. Sometimes the dealership offers upgrades, such as a better speaker system, amplifiers and other audio components, but even these are stock options, and commonly limited. Therefore, many people elect to further modify their vehicles after purchasing them, to make them truly unique.

Many of the modifications made to one’s car are made using after market auto parts. Aftermarket simply means that the product being installed onto or into one’s car is made by a company other than the original manufacturer of the car. Any part made by the original manufacturer is considered OEM, or original equipment manufacturer. Most performance parts are manufactured by aftermarket companies due to their ability to specialize in particular field. Aftermarket parts range anywhere from air intake kits to car graphics kits, custom front grilles, L.E.D. tail lights and chrome rims. Aftermarket parts can sometimes be installed by the car’s owner with minimal or no knowledge about automobiles, while other parts will require professional installation. Knowledgeable advice should be sought in order to make an educated decision before buying an aftermarket product.

In many instances, using after market auto parts on one’s vehicle may void its warranty, if any exists. Therefore, be sure to check your automobile’s manufacturer warranty before electing to make aftermarket changes. Additionally, many after market auto parts are specifically designed to fit only certain model cars and certain years of that model. Before ordering an after market auto part, be certain it matches your vehicle’s make, model and year.

Perhaps even more important is compatibility with the law. Many aftermarket parts are not illegal to sell, but when installed in an automobile they may violate local laws and regulations. For instance, window tinting levels vary from state to state, as well as emissions laws and taillight and headlight colors and brightness levels.

The popularity of custom after market auto parts and accessories continues to be a strong market in the USA. As long as there are vehicles on the road, the demand for aftermarket auto parts and accessories will always be there.

Super Bright Headlights with H.I.D. Headlights

H.I.D. Headlights Brighten the Highway

For those dark evenings or on roads that have no ambient lighting, you need a set of H.I.D. headlight bulbs. There are H.I.D. Kits for most stock and aftermarket headlights. Bright H.I.D. headlights are two to three times brighter than OEM halogen headlights and are easy to install. H.I.D. headlight bulbs come in various sizes and colors. The color is measured in Kelvin. The higher the Kelvin number does not mean the brighter the headlights. In fact, the closer to 4,300 Kelvin is the brightest H.I.D. headlight system you can buy. The lower the Kelvin number, the more yellow the light. The higher the number, the bluer or purple the light. The good folks at MyTightRide.com recommend 4,300 Kelvin or 6,000 Kelvin when purchasing an H.I.D. headlight system. Here’s why:

Kelvin color for H.I.D. Headlights

Kelvin color for H.I.D. Headlights

As you can see by the picture, the lower the Kelvin, the yellow the light. The higher the Kelvin, the more blue then purple you’ll get. Again, 4,300 Kelvin is closest to sunlight and the highest light you can buy. Since color temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin (K) that indicates the hue of light source. There is a misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the HID bulb. The truth is that the higher the color temperature, the less light output from the HID bulb.
How does an H.I.D. headlight system create more light? Simple – the bulb creates an arc of light similar to a welder’s torch instead of using a filiment to create light. This prinicple uses less power yet generates two to three times more light output. An H.I.D. headlight system uses a balast to ignite the H.I.D. bulb. Most H.I.D. headlight systems are simple to install and require little to no wiring. Most H.I.D. headlight systems are plug-n-play. Contact us at MyTightRide.com should you have more questions.
